Up above the buzz of Sukhumvit, Pastel offers a different pace. One shaped by long relaxing evenings, skyline views and bold Mediterranean flavours. Set on the 22nd floor of AIRA Sukhumvit 11, this rooftop bar and restaurant pairs Bangkok’s skyline with a laid-back Riviera atmosphere and a kitchen led by Michelin-starred Executive Chef Kilian Fioretto. With Pastel quickly establishing itself as one of the city’s most talked-about skybars, The Luxury Editor was invited to experience it for ourselves

The journey begins in a fairly understated hotel lobby, but once the lift doors open, you’re transported somewhere far more atmospheric. A glowing neon sign marks your arrival before the space opens into a rooftop terrace edged with bamboo, archways and Mediterranean-style tiling. Inside, the design is eclectic yet cohesive, a blend of breezy Riviera tones and Bali-inspired details. It’s sun-drenched and relaxed by day, then moody and magnetic after dark.

At the heart of it all is Executive Chef Kilian Fioretto. Swiss-born and Michelin-starred at Les Montagnards in Broc, Fioretto brings serious culinary roots but lets the food speak for itself. His move to Bangkok was driven by curiosity, a desire to explore fusion, to adapt Mediterranean traditions using vibrant Asian ingredients, and to lead with flavour rather than formality. What results is a menu that feels intuitive, with bold but balanced dishes that champion quality produce and clear technique.

Dishes are designed for sharing, making it a wonderful place to linger over plates, conversation, and good company. From timeless Mediterranean classics to dishes with a touch of exotic flair, Pastel caters to every palate.

We were seated out on the open terrace, where the city views of skyscrapers are silhouetted against the early evening sky, the soft glow of golden hour settling over Bangkok. There’s something undeniably cinematic about dining with this kind of backdrop and something only Bangkok can deliver.

We began with the Truffle Toast, where silky Parmigiano met the earthy sharpness of fresh black truffle on crisp toast, indulgent without being heavy. The Table-Side Guacamole brought a moment of flair, prepared in front of us with avocado, lime, pomegranate, and coriander.

For mains we chose the A.O.P Seafood Linguine which stood out for its restraint, just olive oil, garlic, a whisper of chilli, and perfectly al dente pasta laced with sweet, clean seafood. The Salmon Beurre Blanc was all about texture and detail: a crisp pan-sear, soft centre, and a basil-laced sauce that gave lift rather than weight. And the Wagyu Ribeye? A charcoal-kissed cut with deep flavour, paired with a Provençal tian and red wine jus that made it feel properly celebratory.

As the city lights flicker to life, Pastel shifts from elegant dining spot to effortlessly cool evening venue. Soft, stylish music fills the space, and some evenings treat you to a live saxophonist who moves gracefully from table to table, adding a soulful touch to the night.

There’s no shortage of rooftop venues in Bangkok, but Pastel manages to stand apart. The setting is striking, the energy well-judged, and the food, under Chef Kilian Fioretto, quietly confident. It’s the kind of place that draws you in for a drink and keeps you there longer than planned, and that’s exactly the point.

In a city where towers rise and neon glows, few experiences match the simple thrill of a drink served sky high. The drinks, meanwhile, celebrate all things tropical, with fruity cocktails and Thai beers featuring. Music is a big deal here, with DJs playing a selection of genres – depending when you visit, you may catch some neo-soul, electro-funk, contemporary hip-hop or disco beats.

Hyatt has opened the doors to Andaz One Bangkok, introducing the Andaz brand to the Thai capital for the first time. The hotel brings 244 rooms and suites to the landmark One Bangkok development on Wireless Road (read our review of the Ritz Carlton Bangkok, which is in the same development), combining immersive local design with sweeping park views and direct access to the MRT. It becomes the second Andaz in Thailand, following the success of Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach.

Positioned beside Lumphini Park in the city’s dynamic new district, Andaz One Bangkok offers guests a park-facing base in one of the most well-connected areas of the capital. It forms part of One Bangkok – an ambitious 108-acre integrated precinct that brings together luxury residences, offices, cultural venues, open green spaces and a live entertainment arena, shaping a new urban core for the city. Guests benefit from direct underground access to MRT Lumphini Station, with business and retail hubs such as Silom and Sathorn just minutes away, and both Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports under 40 minutes by car.

Rooted in the Andaz brand’s philosophy of creative expression and local connection, this luxury Bangkok hotel has been designed as a “Vertical Neighbourhood”. Interiors by Thai firm PIA draw inspiration from Bangkok’s historic sois and mid-century architecture, referencing curved forms from landmarks such as Vidyu Palace. Art and storytelling are central, with bespoke works from leading Thai female artists and archival local photography throughout the public spaces and rooms.

Accommodation spans 244 rooms and suites, starting at 38 square metres, many of which enjoy views across the treetops of Lumphini Park. Design blends bold colours with polished surfaces and contemporary Thai details. Bathrooms feature walk-in rain showers, BYREDO Eleventh Hour amenities, and marble finishes, while in-room touches include Dyson hairdryers, Nespresso machines and complimentary non-alcoholic minibars stocked with local snacks.

Facilities include the 24-hour Andaz Lounge, a hybrid space offering complimentary refreshments during the day and cocktails at night, and a rooftop infinity pool with park views. A spacious fitness centre is also available. Dining is a strong focus, with three venues: Jǐng, a Chinese restaurant with an open kitchen and refined garden-inspired interiors; Andaz Terrace, an all-day al fresco space for afternoon tea and tea-based cocktails; and Piscari, the rooftop Mediterranean restaurant led by French chef Marc Vasseur, which transitions into a DJ-led supper club in the evenings, complete with private rooms and a hidden speakeasy.

Hidden amid the tranquil woodlands of Khao Yai, Maison Mystique is more than a boutique hotel, it is a dream brought to life. Conceived by founders Fearn Kate and Bun Dhadasih, this intimate retreat was envisioned as a “House of Imagination,” where hospitality becomes a form of storytelling and every detail evokes emotion, curiosity, and wonder.

From the very beginning, the philosophy behind Maison Mystique has been built on the belief that hospitality can be an art form, one that transcends service to create meaningful, sensory experiences. Inviting guests not only to rest, but to feel deeply, dream freely, and carry away memories that linger long after they leave.

Set across 44 rai of landscaped gardens, the property centres around a mysterious manor embraced by the Garden of Curiosity a living gallery where nature, nostalgia, and quiet wonder converge. Winding pathways reveal secret gates, vine-draped archways, and poetic landscapes such as Le Jardin Bijoux, The Maze, and The Woodland and Bird of Eden. Within this enchanting setting, beauty is discovered slowly, revealed through textures, scents, and light rather than spectacle.

Inside Maison Mystique, each corridor, softly lit by lanterns, leads to hidden corners where antique curiosities mingle with botanical sculptures. The design combines refined elegance with a touch of whimsy hand-painted details, aged wood, and celestial motifs weave together to create an atmosphere that feels timeless, as though the house itself has been waiting patiently to be rediscovered.

At its soul lies the Hall of Mystery, where a grand emerald marble staircase spirals upward beneath carved rosettes and indigo walls. Nearby, the Garden Hall offers a softer contrast a sanctuary of alabaster and soft greens, its treillage-lined walls and potted ferns echoing the orangeries of old Europe. Upstairs, the Hall of Starry Night shimmers beneath a hand-painted celestial ceiling, where gold stars and crescent moons make every evening feel touched by the cosmos.

The Bibliothèque Émeraude, Maison Mystique’s library, is a refuge of dark green tones, jazz melodies, and soft lamplight. By day, it offers quiet contemplation among vintage books and artworks. By night, it transforms into a stylish bar serving martinis and classic cocktails, resonating with the soulful rhythm of live piano.

Maison Mystique’s 22 rooms and suites are divided into four thematic worlds: Botanical Obscura, Nocturnal Curiosities, Siren Reverie, and Celestial Lullaby. Each tells its own story through materials, mood, and motif.

Botanical Obscura pays homage to the natural world with vintage specimens, floral illustrations, and rooms such as The Darwin Room and The Bird’s Calendar, echoing the spirit of 19th-century exploration. Nocturnal Curiosities embraces the allure of twilight, where Rosie’s Curiosities glows with preserved butterflies beneath glass domes, and The Night Blooming envelops guests in teal velvet and soft candlelight.

In Siren Reverie, sacred hearts and antique sculptures speak of passion and transformation, with suites like Lilith’s Heart and The Heart Poem exploring love, resilience, and divine femininity. Meanwhile, Celestial Lullaby turns its gaze to the stars, with the two-storey Odyssey to the Stars and Moonwatcher’s Companion cocooning guests in a dreamscape of midnight blue and gold.

The Vivarium Dining Room, the hotel’s signature restaurant, is a glasshouse conservatory with a floral ceiling and nature-inspired menus celebrating local, seasonal produce. The Botanist’s Bible, a dark and intimate salon de thé, invites guests to linger over fine teas and delicate pastries surrounded by vintage botanical prints.

At Bar Mystère, smoked herbs, edible flowers, and imaginative mixology create drinks that are equal parts art and alchemym while Hidden Adam an invitation-only whisky salon offers connoisseurs a secluded haven to sip and savour rare spirits in hushed sophistication.

The Garden of Curiosity extends the story into nature. Designed as a living gallery, it features distinct landscapes such as Mahogany Lane, Roses Are Red Garden, and the Kitchen Garden, where fresh herbs and seasonal produce are harvested daily. Every turn reveals another vignette a bridge over a pond, a marble statue half-veiled in vines, or a secret gate leading to a hidden grove.

Maison Mystique is not just a destination; it is an invitation to slow down and rediscover wonder. Here, hospitality is poetry in motion, crafted with heart, artistry, and an enduring sense of imagination. Whether wandering its gardens, dining beneath blossoms, or listening to soft jazz in the library, guests find themselves drawn into a world where time stands still a world that feels at once mysterious, romantic, and deeply human.

The Standard Hotels is bringing its unmistakable sense of style to Thailand’s eastern coast with the opening of the Standard, Pattaya Na Jomtien. Located in the laid-back seaside enclave of Na Jomtien, just over an hour from Bangkok, the resort promises a fresh take on coastal living, infused with The Standard’s signature design flair and upbeat energy.

Following the success of The Standard, Hua Hin, The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon, and The Standard, Singapore, this latest opening marks a new chapter for the brand in Southeast Asia. Designed as a creative escape for those seeking sun, style, and spontaneity, The Standard, Pattaya Na Jomtien features 161 rooms and suites, including a 322-square-metre penthouse, each framed by lush greenery and sweeping sea views.

The property’s modernist architecture, envisioned by ONION and brought to life with interiors by DIN Studio, Studio Lupine, and The Standard’s design team under Verena Haller, combines sculptural brutalism with organic curves and playful colour. Landscape design by PLA ensures every corner flows seamlessly from garden to ocean, creating an immersive, sensory environment that evolves throughout the day.

At the heart of the resort is Esmé, The Standard’s first-ever beach club. Inspired by the free-spirited rhythm of Mexico’s coastlines and infused with Thai flair, Esmé serves flavour-packed dishes such as Chicharrones de Cerdo con Guacamole, Pescado Zarandeado, and Camarón Tacos, paired with signature cocktails like the Pattaya Paloma rimmed with Thai mala spice. As the sun sets, drumbeats and ritual gongs will set the tone for golden-hour gatherings that evolve into electric nights by the sea.

Dining continues at Sereia, a Thai coastal grill celebrating Chonburi’s seafood heritage with live-fire cooking and regional recipes, while Mmhmmm, a sultry adults-only rooftop retreat, will offer a mud lounge, ice bath, secret pool, and panoramic Gulf views. The resort’s pool scene, lined with striped loungers and shaded pergolas, promises a vibrant social hub, complemented by Surf Shack a casual beachfront hangout serving ice-cold beers and grab-and-go coastal bites.

From sunrise swims to sunset cocktails, The Standard, Pattaya Na Jomtien invites guests to experience coastal Thai living through a distinctly modern lens.

Hilton has announced the opening of KROMO Bangkok, Curio Collection by Hilton, marking the debut of its lifestyle brand in Thailand. Located on Sukhumvit Soi 29, the newly built 28-storey property joins the brand’s global portfolio of design-led hotels.

KROMO takes inspiration from the city’s ceremonial name, The City of Nine Gems. Designed by Thai studio DIN Studio, the hotel becomes a living gallery of texture and light, where every detail reveals a connection to one of the nine symbolic gems. From the diamond-like shimmer of its façade to the emerald tones and sculptural clouds of the 10th-floor lobby by Korakot Aromdee, the interiors create an atmosphere of calm and discovery. Works by local creatives, including PATAPiAN, Angel Hat, and Studio JEW+, infuse each space with a distinctly Thai sensibility.

The 306 guestrooms and suites range from King and Twin Rooms to Junior and King Suites, starting at 30 square metres. Designed by LuxeLife Studio, the interiors blend ruby-red hues with intricate details inspired by the iridescent feathers of the sunbird. Art by Nakrob Moonmanas appears throughout the rooms on robes, mirrored panels, and even inside drawers offering hidden touches that encourage guests to explore.

On the 28th floor, the rooftop pool captures the energy of Bangkok’s skyline, with water that glimmers in zircon-inspired shades and a sunset-lit ceiling casting a molten glow. Guests can unwind on daybeds or enjoy crafted bites and cocktails while taking in panoramic views of the city below.

Dining is centred around Colette, a French-inspired bistro and bar that pays homage to Sukhumvit’s early history as Thung Bang Kapi. Here, warm ‘Kapi’ tones drawn from shrimp paste complement artworks by Pin Metal Art and woven installations by Jarupatcha Achavasmit, which evoke the fluid movement of Siamese fighting fish. The menu reinterprets French classics with local ingredients, featuring dishes such as Siam Benedict, Colette French Toast, and Steak Frites, alongside pandan and coconut madeleines with bergamot curd. Signature cocktails draw inspiration from global fashion capitals, complemented by a curated selection of natural and orange wines.

A highlight of the hotel is the Vilah Social Creative Space, where guests can join workshops and cultural events in a luminous setting inspired by the cat’s-eye chrysoberyl gem. Ceiling panels diffuse a soft, radiant glow, while installations by LIKAYBINDERY and Studio JEW+ enhance the sense of creativity and connection.

Gridlock and calm chaos ruled supreme over London’s Wednesday night due to the far-reaching tube strike, but nothing could dampen the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s celebration: A Night of Thai Excellence. Held just North of Marble Arch in the feted one-star Michelin restaurant, AngloThai, the Thai ambassador mingled with influencers, content creators, journalists and, star guest for the evening, Formula 1 Thai/English racer Alex Albon, who was interviewed before dinner.

Racing for the Atlassian Williams Racing team, Albon is based near Milton Keynes, born to a Thai mother and British father who introduced him to go-kart racing at the tender age of seven. Currently positioned seventh with eight races to go, this season is set to be his best ever and as well as talking about his Buddhist faith (there’s a monastery very near him in Milton Keynes where he can knock on the front door should he wish to exchange words with a monk), he discussed the anticipated first ever Thai race, scheduled for 2028. Naturally, he’d love to be standing on that podium in Bangkok whilst the Thai national anthem plays in the background and, one presumes, the hairs would be standing on the back of his neck.

As we ate, influencers and content creators buzzed with excitement after having their photo taken with Albon, and everyone asked if I’d been to a GP that year, which I thought was a bit rude until I realised they weren’t talking about any old doctor’s visit but, of course, a Grand Prix. I had to disappoint but could, at least, claim some kudos by having attended the first ever GP in Abu Dhabi, where Beyoncé, Aerosmith and Kings of Leon gave free concerts as part of the ticket package.

Chef and AngloThai co-owner, John Chantarasak, was also in attendance throughout, more in the kitchen than out of it, preparing a wonderful dinner which kicked off with Tarbet Scallop in a fermented soybean paste not dissimilar to miso. Mains included a luxurious presentation of tender, rare aged ribeye served with green curry and peppercorn sauce, a squid ring stuffed with an unusual but impressive confit of cuttlefish, hake and spring onion and, what looked like rice but was, in fact, naked oats stir-fried in a riot of beef fat, garlic, coriander root, chilli and oyster sauce.

For dessert, Coconut flan was served with a mixture of confit, fresh and jammed strawberries. One of Thailand’s oldest wineries, Monsoon Valley, provided wine pairings but, on a sober September mission, I abstained. Coincidentally (or more likely, not), Albon is collaborating with Monsoon Valley, so watch out for a new wine from them both in the future.

The evening finished with the Thai Ambassador raffling prizes and merchandise signed by Albon. These included Atlassian Williams notebooks and jerseys. I didn’t win either but did win a signed blue baseball cap which perfectly topped off the night of Thai excellence. Here’s wishing Albon an impressive rest of the season and hoping the Bangkok GP in 2028 is a big success.

Etihad Airways has redefined what it means to fly in style, unveiling its brand-new Airbus A321LR on the Abu Dhabi to Phuket route. For the very first time, travellers can enjoy the airline’s famous widebody First Class experience on a single-aisle aircraft, making luxury more accessible on shorter and medium-haul journeys.

The inaugural flight, which departed Zayed International Airport earlier today, was a complete sell-out across First, Business and Economy. Etihad’s new aircraft brings its award-winning design, service and comfort to destinations that do not usually see this level of premium travel, creating a new benchmark for narrowbody flying.

First Class Suites In The Sky

At the very front, just two fully enclosed First Class suites offer total privacy. Each has a sliding door, lie-flat bed, and space to invite a companion to dine or relax. Expect a 20-inch 4K screen, wireless charging, Bluetooth connectivity and, of course, Etihad’s renowned First Class service.

Business Class With A View

The cabin also features 14 Business Class seats in a clever herringbone layout, giving every passenger a direct window view and aisle access. Large 17.3-inch 4K screens, wireless charging and generous space ensure comfort for work or relaxation.

Economy With Smart Comfort

Even in Economy, travellers benefit from thoughtful design. There are 144 ergonomically crafted seats with more legroom, 13.3-inch 4K entertainment screens, and USB charging. Bluetooth pairing means you can use your own wireless headphones throughout the flight.

Wi-Fi For Work And Play

All cabins come equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi capable of streaming, video calls and gaming. Larger overhead bins and intuitive storage also help make the journey smoother.

With 30 of these aircraft set to join Etihad’s fleet, passengers can expect the airline’s sophisticated cabins to appear on more routes across Asia and beyond. For those heading to Phuket, this marks the start of a new era where every seat, from Economy to First, feels that little bit more indulgent.

Enjoy up to 30% discount on your airport lounge membership with our exclusive Priority Pass offer.

Occupying a 216-metre tower within the new One Bangkok district on Wireless Road, the city’s most prestigious thoroughfare, The Ritz-Carlton Bangkok marks the brand’s long-awaited debut in the Thai capital. This sophisticated urban retreat towers above the Bangkok skyline with sweeping views over Lumphini Park, a terrace open-air infinity pool, Michelin-starred dining, an ESPA spa and the privacy of the Club Lounge for suite and club room guests. The Luxury Editor recently stayed at what most certainly is the city’s most luxurious new address – read on to discover more.

Opened in December 2024, the hotel was designed by Chicago-based SOM in collaboration with Thailand’s A49, with a façade of cascading open-air terraces and guided by the concept of a “Meeting of Two Civilisations”. The property reflects the Thai 19th-century vision of combining ‘cherished traditions’ and rich history with global influences. Interiors by PIA Studio bring this narrative to life through marble, polished wood, and brass, enriched with contemporary Thai artworks. Upon arrival, a grand archway leads into the entrance foyer and Front Hall, conceived as a drawing room evoking the intimacy of a private residence. This residential feeling continues throughout, where floor-to-ceiling windows frame views of Lumpini Park and many rooms and communal spaces open onto private loggias and terraces.

Location

Part of the newly opened One Bangkok development, the hotel sits as a standalone tower within the 16-hectare, $3 billion district that combines luxury residences, grade-A offices, cultural venues, landscaped green spaces, and high-end retail. The area itself is home to embassies, diplomatic residences, and luxury addresses, whilst Lumphini Park is directly in view. The BTS Skytrain and MRT metro system are within walking distance, while a brisk walk across Lumpini Park takes you up to the mega malls of Siam Paragon and centralwOrld.

Suvarnabhumi Airport is around 30 minutes by car, and Don Mueang International Airport is approximately 20 minutes, with a limousine pick-up and drop-off service available for a seamless journey from door to door.

Check‑in & Lobby

Cars sweep off Wireless Road into the covered hotel forecourt. From here, you are greeted by pristinely uniformed staff who welcome you like a returning friend as they guide you into the ground-floor arrival hall, before moving through the concierge area. Here, tall glass-fronted cabinets showcase curated objets d’art, while the geometric marble flooring continues the residential design established at the entrance. Just beyond, a bank of three elevators whisk you up to the main lobby.

Stepping out of the elevator on the Lobby Level, a lily pond stretches across its centre, its surface animated by sculptural hand-blown glass lotus flowers by glass artist Nathakorn Kanitvaranun. Turn to the right, passing by a series of intimate seating areas that create the feeling of a grand residence rather than a conventional hotel lobby. Beyond lies the reception area, while those booked into Club Rooms and Suites are discreetly escorted upstairs to the 23rd floor Club Lounge for private check-in.

Rooms & Suites

The property has 259 rooms and suites, beginning with Deluxe Rooms at 50 sqm, which are available in king bed or twin doubles formats along with city skyline views or Lumpini Park views. Floor-to-ceiling windows and day beds come as standard, or opt for a room with a balcony. Bathrooms are clad in marble, with deep soaking tubs, separate walk-in showers, and Diptyque amenities. Club Rooms mirror the Deluxe configurations but include access to The Ritz-Carlton Club Lounge with private check-in, dedicated concierge service, and daily food and beverage presentations.

Suites offer expanded living space and elevated views. The 102 sqm Gardenia Suite includes a balcony, separate living room, and Lumpini Park views, while the Marigold Suite adds further space and refined detailing. The Amaranth Suite features two balconies and the incredible 439 sqm The Ritz-Carlton Suite is available in two or three-bedroom configurations, complemented by three balconies and two entrances. Across all categories, Frette linens, Dyson hairdryers, Nespresso machines, complimentary Wi-Fi, and a curated minibar come as standard.

My Room During My Stay

During my stay, I was accommodated in a Lumpini Park View King Room. These 50 sqm spaces are generous in size, and a bay window offers those coveted views of Lumpini Park, which are further enjoyed stretching out on the wall-to-wall daybed. The bed is dressed in Frette linens and flanked by softly lit wall sconces, with an asymmetric pairing of bedside tables, one in pale lacquer, the other in darker lacquer, lending the room a lived-in, residential character. Neutral walls with subtle panelling keep the aesthetic clean, while the mix of light timber flooring and contemporary furnishings adds texture and depth.

A compact sitting area with a marble-topped table and armchair included a welcome amenity of wine and fresh fruit on arrival.

A glossy black lacquered cabinet in the corner of the room conceals the room’s minibar. Inside, shelves display an assortment of premium spirits, wine, and glassware, alongside a Nespresso coffee machine and, kettle. Pull-out drawers revealed neatly arranged porcelain cups and saucers, cutlery, and an array of locally inspired snacks such as Thai herb cashews, dried mango, mixed nuts, and tropical fruits. Another drawer holds Nespresso capsules and teas, while the refrigerated section was stocked with chilled beers, soft drinks, and sparkling water.

Designed with a Jack and Jill layout, the bathroom can be accessed from both the bedroom and reception hall. White marble walls and floors are offset with glossy black cabinetry. A freestanding oval tub sits before mirrored panels, while a walk-in shower offers a rainfall head, bench seating, and full-sized Diptyque amenities. The twin vanity provides double sinks, illuminated mirrors, and ample storage with drawers stocked with grooming essentials. A Dyson Supersonic hairdryer in its own case, robes, and a Japanese-style toilet with advanced electronic controls further enhance the bathtime experience.

Evening turndown transforms the space, lighting is softened, and bottled water with glasses are placed on each bedside table. A decorative porcelain jar containing locally inspired treats awaits. Slippers are set out, and the bed is smoothed with a folded duvet corner.

The Ritz-Carlton Club

Located on the 23rd floor, The Club Lounge, a signature hallmark of the Ritz-Carlton brand worldwide, is an exclusive experience for guests booking Club rooms and suites. On arrival, you are welcomed by a dedicated ambassador for private check-in. Five daily culinary presentations are served each day, beginning with breakfast and continuing through light lunch, afternoon tea, hors d’oeuvres, and evening cordials. The Ritz-Carlton Club experience extends beyond the lounge itself, with in-room extras such as complimentary garment pressing and shoeshine, and a dedicated concierge team on hand to arrange dining, cultural outings, and tailored experiences throughout the city.

Dining

There are three dining venues in the hotel. Duet by David Toutain, led by the eponymous Michelin-starred chef and culinary prodigy Valentin Fouache. Lily’s is the main all-day dining room with an interactive buffet at breakfast and a menu of sharing plates throughout the day and Caleo is a glamorous cocktail lounge inspired by legendary social clubs.

Duet by David Toutain

The hotel’s flagship dining experience, Duet by David Toutain, has established itself as one of Bangkok’s most talked-about fine-dining experiences. Led by celebrated French chef David Toutain, whose Paris restaurant holds two Michelin stars and a Michelin Green Star, Duet by David Toutain brings his philosophy of culinary storytelling and respect for natural ingredients to Southeast Asia.

Working alongside him is Chef de Cuisine Valentin Fouache, a rising French talent with experience in Michelin-starred kitchens on the Riviera and across Thailand. Toutain, who trained with culinary legends such as Alain Passard, Pierre Gagnaire, Bernard Pacaud and Marc Meurin, is renowned for his inventive use of vegetables, herbs and textures, while Fouache brings a precision and freshness shaped by his years in Michelin-starred French kitchens.

Designed as twin glass houses, and accommodating just 32 guests, ensures an intimate and personal dining experience. Interiors carry a botanical sensibility, sage-toned accents are layered with natural textures, rattan-backed chairs, and marble tabletops. Floral cushions, patterned floor tiles, and cabinets displaying glassware and spirits add further residential familiarity.

The restaurant’s name, Duet, reflects not only the partnership between the two chefs but also the interplay of nature and cuisine that defines the menu. You are taken on an eight-course tasting journey, with each dish accompanied by a storytelling card that is presented as a gift when you leave. Dishes juxtapose textures, colours and flavours in visually striking and surprising compositions, with produce sourced sustainably and prepared with a reverence for seasonality.

To further enhance the evening, we recommend opting for the matching wines experience with the sommelier curating pairings that draw on both classic vintages and more unexpected finds. During our visit, pours ranged from a 2021 Domaine Jean Royer Châteauneuf-du-Pape and an expressive Arbois Chardonnay from Fumey Chatelain, to a playful Duchesse Chocolate Cherry beer and the natural Australian Jauma.

Caleo

Located on the lobby floor, Caleo is the hotel’s glamorous lounge and cocktail bar, inspired by six of the world’s legendary social clubs, including The Pegu Club, Royal Bermuda Yacht Club and Rick’s Café Américain. At its centre, an oval circular bar is crowned by a glittering chandelier installation, while the hotel’s signature arched windows look out across the Bangkok skyline.

A fun little personal touch is Caleo’s bar postcards (which, after a few cocktails, I forgot to take a picture of, but I did post one!). Each is adorned with playful collage-style artwork inspired by the bar’s global influences. The bar encourages you to jot down a note or memory from their evening, and the team will see it stamped and posted to any corner of the world, complimentary.

By day, the lounge serves Afternoon Tea and light dishes, and after dark it transforms into one of the city’s most stylish cocktail destinations. The menu is divided into themed sections, each celebrating the spirit of the club that inspired it.

A cocktail highlight is Rick’s Gimlet Flight, inspired by Rick’s Café Américain. A trio of taster-sized gimlets, each evoking the essence of a different country. The France expression layers fresh raspberries with the fragrant lift of herbs de Provence. Portugal introduces chamomile and a whisper of white pepper, adding subtle warmth while Morocco brings sharp grapefruit and a spiced paprika cordial, rounded off with grains of paradise for an exotic, aromatic finish.

A selection of small plates complements the drinks menu, from tacos and soft bao buns to chargrilled lamb cutlets.

Lily’s

Lily’s serves breakfast through to all-day dining, arranged in a series of residential living-room-style spaces, with deep armchairs and cushioned banquettes set beside low tables. Natural light pours in while details like the polished wood floors and muted jewel tones reinforce a sense of domestic comfort.

The buffet is extensive and sits alongside an a la carte offering. I went with my go-to eggs Benedict, but other options include buttermilk pancakes, homemade brioche French toast, or lighter choices like organic steel-cut oats topped with tropical fruits and granola. Thai specialities, including crab curry, pad Thai and khao soi, offer a local twist to the morning ritual.

Within the buffet, the signature Ritz-Carlton waffles, pressed into intricate floral shapes and dusted with sugar, are a must. Live cooking stations prepare dishes to order, including congee with a choice of condiments, freshly grilled skewers and Middle Eastern mezze. Cheeses are individually presented beneath glass domes along with a never-ending selection of sweet and savoury classics.

The Ritz-Carlton Spa

The Ritz-Carlton Spa occupies part of the seventh floor, centred around three wellness pillars of mind, body, and skin. Treatments are tailored, blending mindfulness, holistic modalities, and traditional Thai techniques. Facilities include five treatment rooms, a couple’s suite, and a relaxation pod, alongside separate men’s and women’s lounges, steam rooms, and saunas. ESPA’s skincare products feature throughout, with treatments ranging from facials to body scrubs through to massage therapies.

The fitness centre is open 24 hours and equipped with the latest Technogym machines, free weights, and space for resistance training, with personal training and fitness classes, including yoga and Tai Chi on the terrace, available on request.

The seventh floor is also home to the hotel’s outdoor swimming pool, children’s pool, and whirlpool, with shaded cabana beds and pool staff on hand with towels and chilled bottles of water.

Cultural Programming

The hotel’s cultural programming includes a daily Defining Moment drum ceremonies on the Lumpini Terrace that signal the start of evening celebrations, Terrace Chi sessions inviting guests to practice tai chi against the park backdrop, and guided tours of the One Bangkok Art Loop connecting guests with the local creative scene.

Final Thoughts

The Ritz-Carlton Bangkok represents a new chapter for the city’s luxury hotel scene. Perfectly positioned within the ambitious One Bangkok development, this is not only the brand’s long-awaited debut in Bangkok but also a destination in its own right, offering discerning travellers a new perspective on Bangkok.

The best way to take the stress out of the festive period is by planning in advance. An idyllic winter getaway in a picture-perfect villa is within reach, but you’ll have to be fast. Tropical locations are becoming increasingly popular among luxury travellers, and for good reason, so is it too early to talk about the festive season?

According to data compiled in 2024 by The Luxury Signature, a full-service villa rental company specialising in luxury private rentals in Thailand, almost a quarter of bookings made for the December holiday season were booked as early as 10 months in advance, with 10% of guests booking up to a year and a half ahead of time. This early planning not only secures their desired villa but also advanced arrangements for activities and tours at the destination for a truly enriching holiday experience.

The mere mention of the holidays, Christmas and New Year at any time of year often sends people into a spin. However, if you’re looking to spend a stylish tropical villa holiday in Thailand, now’s the time to start thinking seriously about planning something special for this year’s end of year celebrations.

Holiday season bookings tend to be made around six months in advance, so there’s still time to lock in your festive plans this year and, of course, even more time for those already looking to organise an unforgettable 2026. The festive period is the ideal time to gather all the family and take advantage of the precious time away from day-to-day life and celebrate together. The high demand for luxury tropical villas, paired with the limited supply during the busy winter break, means there’s no better time than now to reserve the destination and accommodation of your dreams and give yourself a stress-free holiday season to look forward to.

The Luxury Signature allows you to find your perfect fit from a selection of hand-picked luxury villas in Thailand to meet even the greatest of expectations. You and your favourite travel companions are in safe hands thanks to seamless and personalised customer service you’ll receive as a standard from start to finish.

You will enjoy the advantages of a full-service luxury villa stay, such as exclusive access to villa amenities like infinity pools, gyms, game rooms and private cinemas. You will also get the services of a warm and friendly staff that includes housekeepers and a skilled private chef who can create sumptuous gourmet meals. In addition, advanced arrangements with villa managers and concierge services ensure that you can get add-on services like in-villa massages and transportation to anywhere you need to be at your destination.

A deeper look into the company’s data also reveals that many guests who have booked stays in the past often make return reservations to bring their family and friends back to Thailand with them. What begins as an intimate getaway often leads to a multi-generational get-together. And with the festive season drawing closer, now is a wonderful opportunity to start new traditions and create cherished memories together.

Thailand is brimming with lavish getaway options offering a captivating blend of tropical allure, cultural richness, and unparalleled hospitality. From the bustling streets of Bangkok, where high-end shopping and gourmet dining await, to the pristine beaches of Phuket and Koh Samui, to the hidden gems of The Similan Islands, the Land of Smiles has become one of the world’s favourite destinations. And with exclusive spa treatments, private yacht excursions to secluded islands, and opulent stays in stunning luxury villas, Thailand caters to every luxury traveller’s whim. The tropical climate is perfect for those looking to escape the cold and bask in the winter sun this Christmas, and as more globetrotters are seeking a bespoke five-star escape, Thailand is proving a popular choice.

Early planning for the festive season can easily transform the usual holiday rush into a calm and well-paced celebration filled with comfort and ease. With the help of the dedicated staff of The Luxury Signature, you can build a bespoke holiday getaway in Thailand in advance with the same ease.

The Ritz-Carlton, Bangkok, one of the Thai capital’s newest luxury addresses, will host the highly anticipated finale of Marriott International’s 2025 Luxury Dining Series this September. Set within the One Bangkok development on Wireless Road, the event takes place from 25 to 28 September and brings together an extraordinary line-up of international culinary talent to spotlight the theme “Forgotten Flavors”.

This year’s series has journeyed across seven destinations in Asia Pacific, uniting over 25 globally acclaimed chefs and mixologists to rediscover long-forgotten ingredients and revive traditional cooking techniques. Inspired by Marriott’s Future of Food 2025 Report, which highlights Asia Pacific’s 37.8% share of the global culinary tourism market and projects a rise to USD6.2 trillion by 2033, the initiative taps into a growing appetite for immersive gastronomic experiences that celebrate heritage and sustainability.

A Four-Day Culinary Showcase

For this grand finale, the hotel has curated an ambitious programme of multi-chef collaborations, private dining experiences, and innovative beverage events, each reflecting a commitment to reviving Thailand’s culinary legacy.

At Duet by David Toutain, guests will be treated to inventive six-hands dinners on 25 and 26 September featuring the celebrated French chef alongside Chef Valentin Fouache and Michelin-starred Chef Adam Catterall from Hong Kong’s Roganic. On 27 and 28 September, Duet will host a second collaborative experience merging French artistry with Asian refinement, led by Louise Hong Kong’s Executive Chef Loïc Portalier.

Friends of Lily’s will see Chef de Cuisine Sedtapat Sukpaisanpongsa (Pop) join forces with Tala Bashmi, named MENA’s Best Female Chef by the World’s 50 Best, Loïc Portalier, and Chef Jai of Charmgang. The menu promises a remarkable fusion of Middle Eastern, Thai, and French culinary traditions. For a more intimate experience, Lily’s will present a private dining event on 26 September, limited to just ten guests, offering an authentic taste of Bahraini cuisine reinterpreted by Chef Tala Bashmi.

Innovative Mixology and Sweet Indulgences

The hotel’s Calēo Bar will play host to an exclusive collaboration between Angelo Sparvoli, Head Bartender of London’s renowned American Bar at The Savoy, and Simone Rossi, a celebrated mixologist from Hong Kong known for his Ratafia Rossi cherry liqueur. The two-night event on 25 and 26 September promises cutting-edge cocktail creations blending European technique with Asian influence.

From 25th to 28th September, Calēo will also present a multi-sensory chocolate afternoon tea crafted by Executive Pastry Chef Sylvain Constans. Guests can expect guided tastings and live demonstrations highlighting rare cacao beans from around the globe, offering a deeper appreciation of artisanal chocolate-making.

A Culinary Movement Rooted in Heritage

The Ritz-Carlton, Bangkok’s distinctive philosophy of “Elemental Ensemble” mirrors this ethos, delivering transformative experiences that honour Thai heritage while embracing international sophistication.
