Cartagena is ever-evolving and following a years-long restoration project, a collection of remarkable historic buildings in the heart of the city has welcomed a new era with Four Seasons Hotel and Residences Cartagena. Here, the city’s rich cultural heritage, blended with international influences and modern flair, has been woven into the fabric of Four Season’s signature hospitality. The hotel has been thoughtfully designed to showcase the city’s historic legacy and Caribbean spirit by incorporating the works of local artisans and designers.

Upon entering the impressive lobby, guests are greeted with a grand staircase and stunning glass atrium, before being welcomed into one of the 131 deluxe accommodations. This collection includes 27 colonial-style rooms and suites situated within heritage buildings featuring meticulously preserved architectural features, bespoke furnishings, and handcrafted details inspired by Spanish colonial style. The hotel’s presidential Catroux Suite, named after the late French designer François Catroux, is a spectacular addition to his legacy and can be accessed by a private elevator. It houses two bedrooms accented with colonial era architecture, including a furnished terrace with a handcrafted, Moorish inspired ceramic fountain by María Cecilia Franco Berón. Each of the hotel’s contemporary guestrooms can be reached through tranquil courtyards and fascinating passageways before welcoming guests with artworks and sculptures created by local artists and artisans. There are a limited number of Private Residences by Rodriguez Valencia Arquitectos within the hotel itself, providing a sophisticated accommodation fully serviced by Four Seasons and seamless access to all amenities.

Gastronomy plays a fundamental role at Four Seasons Hotel and Residences Cartagena, with eight restaurants and bar venues on offer. Located in the former Club Cartagena, an expertly transformed 1920s landmark, you’ll find The Grand Grill. The menu consists of a modern interpretation of the classic steakhouse tradition with premium cuts and seafood available to order. Also found in the former Club Cartegena is Bar Lelarge, named after original architect Gastón Lelarge, which serves a curated cocktail program to highlight local, seasonal fruits with a subtle Cuban influence alongside premium spirits and fine wines in an intimate setting. Celebrating world-famous Colombian coffee, Café Rialto serves specialty blends and freshly baked goods in house and to go. Pizzeria Della Chiesa, originally the site of the Iglesia de la Veracruz and latterly Teatro Cartagena, boasts historical significance and the neighbourhood’s favourite authentic Neapolitan-style pizza. The city’s first speakeasy, El Aljibe, offers craft cocktails and gourmet bites in a unique hidden enclave. For alfresco dining, El Patio de Limonar is an open-air courtyard serving a breakfast buffet comprising local, regional, and international delights and made-to-order mornings. The hotel’s rooftop bar, El Palmar, boasts panoramic views of the city accompanied by live music and a wide selection of drinks. Beneath the soaring glass atrium, guests and residents converge in the ambient lobby lounge to enjoy a lively atmosphere against a magnificent backdrop.

The hotel’s abundance of wellness facilities includes the rejuvenating Umari Spa in the serene surrounds of the restored building’s former cloisters. Drawing inspiration from the nourishment and spiritual growth attributed to the umari plant, the spa treatments on offer incorporate Colombian botanicals and natural ingredients into ancestral traditions and practices. There are six treatment rooms, including a couple’s suite, a hair and nail salon, a relaxation room, steam room, and spa boutique. Guests are also invited to make use of the 24-hour fitness centre complete with first-class equipment, personal training options, and a timetable of yoga, stretching, and guided movement sessions. There are also two rooftop pools offering sweeping views of the city and its harbour and a variety of event spaces including the beautiful Ballroom de la Veracruz for hosting up to 300 guests, the smaller Ballroom Centenario for up to 100 guests, and a range of indoor and outdoor spaces for business events and special occasions.

The Valorian Los Angeles, Curio Collection by Hilton, formerly Mondrian Los Angeles, debuts a new chapter of refined hospitality and introduces White Rabbit Sky Lounge to an iconic Sunset Strip landmark.

Remerging with a brand-new identity, The Valorian Los Angeles, Curio Collection by Hilton has been relaunched as a trendsetting luxury hotel in the centre of the world-renowned Sunset Boulevard. Although reimagined, the property continues to honour its rich cultural legacy while stepping into a new era. Since its introduction as the Mondrian in 1996, the property has been a favourite among discerning travellers and tastemakers alike. The hotel underwent a major redesign in 2018 which only strengthened its reputation as a West Hollywood icon. The property draws inspiration from its surroundings and reflects the creativity and unique energy of West Hollywood to bring its own stylish flair to the Sunset Strip.

After passing through the 30-foot entry doors, you’ll see the hotel’s interiors are characterised by bold colours and rich textures inspired by the spirit of West Hollywood. This intentional design creates a sophisticated atmosphere while the hotel hosts a carefully curated range of rotating art installations and cultural activations to create an immersive space to intrigue and delight guests. In each guestroom and suite, the bright, modern aesthetic of the recent redesign is recreated alongside the privileged views of the Sunset Strip, Hollywood Hills, and downtown Los Angeles skyline. For each type of stay or special occasion, there is a selection of distinctive suite experiences to choose from to make the most of your Los Angeles escape.

The transformation of The Valorian has brought about many exciting, new features and the hotel’s legendary rooftop is no exception. High above the Sunset Strip, White Rabbit Sky Lounge offers panoramic city views in an elegant, design-centred atmosphere. Formerly the acclaimed SkyBar, White Rabbit Sky Lounge now features dynamic day-to-night programming, making it a premier location for lounging in the sun by day and late-night fun. This spring will see the introduction of a curated cocktail list alongside seasonal activations and immersive experiences to lead up to the summer unveiling of a fresh aesthetic evolution. Casa Madera, uninterrupted, continues to play a major part of the property’s culinary identity as a signature dining destination. The restaurant, known for its energetic atmosphere and contemporary cuisine, invites hotel guests and locals alike to indulge in a truly immersive dining experience.

As part of the recent rebrand and relaunch, the hotel will be operated by Pivot, part of the Davidson Hospitality Group, and will join the global Curio Collection by Hilton. The partnership will introduce the property into an exclusive portfolio of distinctive hotels boasting one-of-a-kind experiences in some of the most sought-after destinations in the world. The Valorian will maintain its individuality and strong sense of identity while benefiting from Hilton’s reach, reputation among luxury travellers, and award-winning loyalty programme.

Six Senses, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio, has recently unveiled its first property in the UK. Open since the 1st of March 2026, Six Senses London has played a part in reviving the former Whiteley’s department store on Queensway, which has been transformed into something completely new and exciting. This opening marks a significant development in Six Senses’ emerging collection of urban properties that bring a different rhythm into city life. The arrival of the London property follows the success of Six Senses Rome and Six Senses Kyoto and is only the beginning, with further openings to follow in the coming years.

The Six Senses brand, built on commitment, serves as a changemaker and has been creating meaningful experiences for luxury travellers for three decades. The brand is currently undergoing a period of considered and purposeful growth with the aim of replicating Six Senses’ DNA across various locations and settings. From tranquil island getaways and healing retreats to mountain escapes and now city breaks, Six Senses invites guests to recalibrate and reconnect with its signature emotional hospitality approach grounded in wellness, sustainability, and crafted experiences.

Each hotel features a unique touch that reflects the brand’s mission to provide an unconventional luxury experience that stands alone where wellness, sustainability and bespoke hospitality meet. Six Senses spas offer a blend of ancient wisdom infused with modern science and pioneer a journey to understand just what it means to be mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally well.

The new Six Senses London occupies a full quarter of The Whiteley mixed-use development and is conveniently located close to Hyde Park and Notting Hill. The hotel comprises 109 elegantly appointed guestrooms and suites which have been designed to harmonise with the building’s Art Deco heritage. Many of these rooms feature private terraces, while the hotel boasts a green roof with seasonal perennial planting to attract pollinators and help weave nature into the city’s fabric.

There are also 14 Six Senses-branded residences at The Whiteley, with each environment crafted to invigorate the senses and spaces created by AvroKO in collaboration with EPR Architects. The hotel brings Whiteley’s Kitchen, Bar and Café to London, with hopes of becoming a neighbourhood staple, where contemporary British fare is served and celebrated. The Six Senses London spa is a 2,300-square-metre wellness facility which captures the energies of the surrounding city and creates a balance between stillness and movement in a restorative environment. The spa is also home to London’s first magnesium pool, a 20-metre indoor swimming pool, and cryotherapy, flotation, and recovery spaces. Guests are welcome to venture into the Alchemy Bar, longevity clinic, fitness centre, and the state-of-the-art Biohack Recovery Lounge, dedicated to performance and longevity. The hotel introduces the new private members concept, Six Senses Place, where reconnection, community, and high-tech wellness are encouraged in a thoughtfully designed space.

The Whiteley itself is a historic address which occupies an entire city block, a mere stone’s throw from Hyde Park. Poised to become the capital’s greatest residential and hospitality address, The Whiteley has been completely reimagined and contains a meticulously curated selection of amenities over 60,000 square feet. There are 19 commercial tenants within the building, which forms part of the wider £3bn regeneration of Queensway. The aim of the transformation is to create a world-class district for all types of activities to make city life more enjoyable. The Whiteley perfectly represents this joint venture of epic scale and proportion while the opening of Six Senses London reflects deep collaboration and shared commitment between IHG, CC Land Holdings Ltd., Valouran and Gruppo Statuto and contributes to IHG’s leading Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio. IHG acquired the Six Senses brand in 2019 and has since thoughtfully sought opportunities to enhance the brand’s presence across the globe.

There are now 27 hotels and resorts open across 20 countries, with a further 39 properties in the development pipeline, including a collection of private residences. Each Six Senses location is selected for its natural impact and ability to stir something within its guests and reawaken the senses to give travel meaning and purpose.

This spring, worldly travellers are invited to northern Europe for a blissful Scandinavian experience. Maryhill Estate and the newly opened Rox Resort each offer a unique stay overlooking the waters of the Øresund Strait, where southern Sweden and Denmark are connected by the iconic Øresund Bridge. Travellers can enjoy waking up in a historic seaside castle, spend the afternoon immersed in contemporary Nordic art, or opt to end the day in a rooftop sauna overlooking where the North and Baltic seas meet.

Maryhill Estate, situated high above Skåne’s scenic coastline in Sweden, is housed in a restored early 20th-century castle. Surrounded by verdant parkland and forest paths that lead to the strait, this estate is steeped in rich Scandinavian heritage.

This spring will see the arrival of Tomorrow’s Masters Art Exhibition for the second year running from the 18th to the 21st of April. Works from internationally recognised names are showcased alongside emerging artists including photographers and editioned works. Maryhill Estate especially comes to life at this time of year with its ample space for luxurious outdoor living. There are tennis and padel courts for keeping active as well as three pools with sunbeds, perfect for indoor-outdoor swimming and soaking up the sun. There are remarkable coastal walking trails nearby in addition to three excellent golf courses within 15 minutes of the estate.

This spring will also mark the opening of Ålabodarnas Harbour Restaurant where guests can savour local flavours by the sea and enjoy the freshest seafood in an alfresco Nordic fine dining experience. Other culinary offerings include the lively Sugar club serving Greek and Southern Italian cuisine, and the quiet sophistication of Hill House, specialising in French gastronomy with a 1920s New York twist. Maryhill Estate’s castle vineyard produces a tempting selection of wines including Solaris, and signature sparkling wines. The Book of Wine, curated by head sommelier Erik Sundstén and his team, contains over 600 labels such as celebrated Burgundy, Loire, and Bordeaux vintages, stored under optimal condition to ensure exceptional maturity. Guests are welcome to indulge in a world-class tasting experience and more at Maryhill Estate.

If you’re planning your next luxury family holiday, why not consider a low-tech escape to make the most of your precious time together? People of all ages are increasingly glued to their screens and often don’t make time to reconnect with nature or each other. Off-grid escapes are on the rise as they offer families the chance to prioritise shared adventures, outdoor activities, and quality time spent together. With the upcoming cinema release of The Magic Faraway Tree, there’s no better time to set your little ones’ imagination free and take to the great outdoors for some family fun.

Enid Blyton’s enchanting world will be brought to life in cinemas on March 27th 2026 and the much-loved characters of a series published nearly 90 years ago will return to the spotlight, providing the perfect inspiration to get the whole family excited about low-tech, outdoor activities. In a world where mobile phones, tablets, and consoles have become embedded in our daily lives, storytelling and slower-paced experiences are in demand as parents redirect their children’s attention away from screens and onto storybooks and real-life adventure, especially on holidays.

Children are curious so they will thrive from the adventure attention an off-grid family holiday affords. Research has shown the seemingly endless benefits of time spent in nature and these types of holidays encourage kids and grown-ups alike to use their imagination and bond with each other without technology getting in the way. The story of The Magic Faraway Tree is built on curiosity and courage and inspires children to be the main characters in their own fantasy stories by ditching their screens and heading outside to create and play.

The increasing popularity of off-grid, low-tech family holidays reflects this shift in mentality. Founded in 2003, Oliver’s Travels, an award-winning specialist in holiday rentals, has noted a growing demand for family villas and rural escapes including holiday homes without Wi-Fi and where nature takes centre stage. The company offers specialised service and local knowledge from the concierge team in addition to a wide range of one-of-a-kind properties in the UK, Europe, and all over the world like villas, châteaux, castles, stately homes, beach huts, hobbit houses, ski chalets, and cottages. There are optional additional services including food delivery, fridge stocking, spa treatments, airport transfers, chef and maid services, local excursions and more. Oliver’s Travels offers everything from a Greek Island escape for up to 20 guests to a grand French castle retreat for 15 to an intimate, 6-person Italian mountain getaway in the Dolomites.

What’s more, these types of holidays can be completely personalised with an itinerary full of fun for all the family from woodland exploration to water-based activities. The natural surroundings provide plenty of space to unwind in peace, dine under the stars, or try your hand at something new. Parents will set an example by showing that screen-free family time is more enriching and rewarding than days spent in front of the TV. Children will enjoy their new-found freedom and benefit from a stress-free break from day-to-day life.

The Balmoral (read our review here) is more than a hotel: it’s a landmark of Scotland’s capital, housed in a magnificent edifice, situated at Edinburgh’s most prestigious address, No. 1 Princes Street. Established in 1902 as a grand railway hotel, the hotel today is one of only 18 exclusive Rocco Forte Hotels and comprises 187 luxurious guestrooms and suites. The Balmoral’s gastronomic offerings are equally as exquisite with award-winning cuisine at Number One restaurant, all-day dining at Brasserie Prince, and Afternoon Tea in Palm Court. The iconic hotel is also home to SCOTCH Whisky Bar where an extensive collection of 500 single malt whisky bottles from award-winning distilleries across Scotland is housed in a remarkable, oak-panelled, hand-crafted whisky cabinet, and is a must-visit for anyone from first-time whisky drinkers to seasoned collectors. And for the world’s most discerning collectors, SCOTCH Whisky Bar at The Balmoral has unveiled the world-exclusive, fully curated The 1945 Glen Grant Scotch Whisky Experience.

This extraordinary offering comes with a £60,000 price tag and provides connoisseurs and collectors the rare opportunity to add a bespoke bottle of one of the oldest and rarest Scotch whiskies in existence to their collection. The one-of-one 1945 Glen Grant Scotch Whisky from Gordon & MacPhail was distilled in the late stages of Britain’s wartime history and comes accompanied by a tailor-made experience designed to honour and reflect its fascinating provenance.

The refined journey offered by The 1945 Glen Grant Scotch Whisky Experience is spread across Scotland and begins with a rare-access visit to Gordon & MacPhail’s headquarters for a private tour and bespoke tasting. This behind-the-scenes experience is followed by an exclusive-use, overnight stay at Glen Rothes House, made all the more opulent by private dining and chauffeured travel through Speyside. The next stop is the Johnstons of Elgin mill for a private visit to discover Scotland’s rich textile heritage. After that, expect a return to Edinburgh for a two-night stay in The Balmoral’s Scone & Crombie Suite, accompanied by a fine-dining meal at the 4-AA-Rosette Number One restaurant; a personal wine tasting in the Number One wine cellar, hosted by the Head Sommelier; and a whisky tasting led by SCOTCH Bar’s Whisky Ambassadors. The journey is then topped off with a choice of signature ‘Suites & Beyond’ moments at The Balmoral which includes (but is not limited to) a one-on-one bagpipe lesson or a bespoke session with the hotel’s Poet in Residence or Scent Butler. Every aspect of the experience is individually curated and offers an unparalleled insight into the whisky, culture, and craftsmanship for which Scotland is renowned.

SCOTCH Whisky Bar is open daily from 4pm, hosting year-round private experiences and guided tastings. In a sophisticated setting, full of character and history, guests are offered a deep exploration into Scotland’s world-famous whisky heritage.

The Balmoral also works with other iconic brands to offer one-of-a-kind experiences that extend beyond the hotel and showcase Scottish culture and heritage in all its splendour.

Surrounded by 1,000 hectares of pristine Tuscan countryside, Oasyhotel is set to reopen its doors on the 1st of April 2026 for its fifth season. Sitting among the unspoiled landscapes of the Oasi Dynamo Nature Reserve is a one-of-a-kind retreat where guests are invited to step into a world of quiet luxury and be at one with nature.

There are 17 contemporary forest lodges with direct access to the world’s first WWF-affiliated wilderness reserve in Italy’s scenic Tuscan Apennines. Oasyhotel provides a unique retreat, perfect for nature lovers, with an emphasis on conservation, biodiversity, and cultural programming. This expansive wild playground is the perfect setting for an exciting programme of nature-led experiences and immersive activities. Guests are welcome to take advantage of the world-class facilities, including a yoga deck, wildlife observatory, and private lake with a floating swimming pool, to truly connect with the surrounding land and unwind in comfort and style.

Oasyhotel’s sustainable philosophy extends to the two on-site dining concepts, Le Felci and Casa Luigi, where seasonal Tuscan cuisine is served using fresh ingredients sourced from the on-site farm and organic vegetable gardens.

Read our guide to the best hotels in Tuscany.

Following Oasyhotel’s grand reopening, the 25th of April 2026 will see the third season of the Oasy Contemporary Art (OCA) project. Established three years ago as a landscape-based initiative, this outdoor sculpture and art park strives to prove that conservation and culture can go hand in hand to create a carefully crafted journey of art that unfolds like a symphony with each work embedded in its natural setting. The project consists of site-specific works that ensure the protected environment is not altered and local wildlife is safeguarded including deer, wolves, and golden eagles. The OCA project can be accessed exclusively by intimate guided groups and can only be reached by foot or bicycle as there are no wide paved walkways, no intrusive signage, and no car access. Visitors will be welcomed to admire the project that will transform the landscape itself into a work of art and encourage a dialogue about our relationship with nature. In addition to the outdoor installations, there is a gallery space, housed in a specially restored former cattle barn, for rotating, temporary exhibits to showcase the talents of emerging and established artists in a unique context.

This year’s installation will incorporate new commissions by Stefano Boeri, Arne Quinze and Fuse* into the existing trail works of seven other talented artists. The latest addition of Stefano Boeri is a sculptural white marble bench where visitors can pause and reflect on the beauty of the surrounding forest canopy. Arne Quinze draws inspiration from his own wildflower garden and will present both indoor and outdoor works to the 2026 OCA. The Belgian artist offers painted floral installations to represent the fragility and excess of natural ecosystems in addition to five clay sculptures to enhance the outdoor exhibition. The addition of artistic collective Fuse* will bring the total number of permanent installations across the reserve to ten with an outdoor sculpture inspired by space and the infinite black hole.
